Namitha says she feels privileged to work in a movie that has been scripted with her in mind. She plays a character with shades of grey in the movie. Her precious movie was Indra Vizha in which she portrayed a negative character as well. She is most excited about this role because she gets to dress up in Victorian style dresses, wear hats and even smoke cigarettes. She compares her look in the film to the Kate Winslet’s look in the blockbuster movie Titanic.
She says that the movie also involves speaking a lot of English and this helps her portray the character with ease. The movie is directed by Suresh Krishna. Namitha cannot stop praising her director. She is extremely thankful to the director for laying his trust in her and also giving her a lot of time to understand the character so that she could play it to perfection. She hopes to be remembered as well as Ramya who played the negative role Nilambari in the hit movie Padayappa.
She wants to experiment with all kinds of roles. She says that she is looking for meaty roles and not just roles that portray her as a sex symbol. She says that most roles that used to be offered to her earlier used to be the glamorous types. But now directors are taking her more seriously. This is evident from the fact that she has a number of action films in her kitty. She is all set to star in the Telugu remake of the Hindi hit Gangster. She also plays the role of a police woman in another Telugu flick titled Desadhrohi and a similar role in a Kannada movie project.
Ask her about her most memorable role? She replies “Billa” without even thinking twice!
